2007 race
The 2007 MSC Felixstowe Half Marathon turned out to be
another record-breaker with 455 finishers, 53 more than in the previous year’s race,
despite clashing with the Great North Run.
The day was fine and calm, which was a relief after high tides and
strong, onshore winds battered the prom on Friday and threatened to sabotage the
race.
The male winner was Paul Molyneux of Springfield Striders
and the first lady home was Jennie Roberts of Ipswich Jaffa.
First Felixstowe male was Mark Pinney, who finished in 27th
position to receive the Bryant Bennett Memorial Cup, and Samantha Cloud won the
John Humphreys trophy (and bottle of champagne, kindly donated by John
Humphreys) as first Felixstowe lady.
We also had a record field in the fun run with 98 runners.
The race was won by Rhys Hinton-Smith of Felixstowe and the first girl
home was Jade Ramsey.
Congratulations to the winners of both races and to all the
finishers.
Thanks to everyone who supported the race, whether by
running or by helping with the 1001 jobs necessary to put on an event of this
kind. In particular, thanks to our
sponsors MSC (UK) Ltd and to all the FRR club members who gave up their chance
to run in order to help.
